What is a Chaplain?
The role of a chaplain can be summed up in three words: Ministry of Presence. Whether in healthcare, hospice, police, fire, schools, communities or countless other places, a trained and licensed chaplain enters into the center of a crisis to bring a sense of hope and stability to one or more individuals.

A chaplain, whether paid or volunteer, must have a solid spiritual foundation, is able to listen to the heart of the one to whom he or she is ministering and is not phased by uncomfortable situations. The goal is to offer both spiritual and emotional support and comfort.

Clinical Pastoral Education is a nationally and internationally recognized certification that is often requested by organizations, companies and institutions looking to hire a chaplain. Other components might include licensing and ordination.
In the end, being present as the arms and feet of Jesus, brings the light of Christ into dark and dismal places.
